What is the best sniper rifle in Warzone right now?
A good sniper can control a whole fight from a rooftop, pick off a player before their team can react and cover a rotation for the rest of the squad. In Season 06: The Haunting, the public meta tracker that LoadoutLab follows ranks the Strider 300 as the number one sniper rifle and the only one in its meta tier. The VS Recon and Hawker HX follow in second and third place.
Keep the calendar in mind. Modern Warfare 4 is reported to join Warzone with its Season 1 update on 6 November 2026, and guns from earlier games are expected to lose Gunsmith and switch to a fixed five attachment version at that point. Treat the builds below as your plan for the final days of Season 06.
The sniper rifles ranked on LoadoutLab
- Strider 300: first on the sniper list and the sole meta tier pick.
- VS Recon: second, one of the rifles that launched with Black Ops 7.
- Hawker HX: third, built around a .338 LM Overpressured fire mod.
1) Strider 300
The Strider 300 sits clear at the top of the sniper rankings. All three top builds share the same idea: a Monolithic Suppressor to keep you off the minimap, then barrel, underbarrel, rear grip and an overpressured fire mod to make every shot count. On the Strider that means the .300 WM Overpressured rounds.
- Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
- Barrel: Bowen Grooved Barrel
- Underbarrel: Cornerstone-642 Guard
- Rear grip: Hatch Quick Grip
- Fire mod: .300 WM Overpressured
Carry the VMP as your secondary. It is the top close range gun on the site, so you are covered when a team rushes your building.
2) VS Recon
The VS Recon is the second ranked sniper and arrived with the launch of Black Ops 7. Its build uses a long 23" G-Force Barrel and the 7.62 NATO Overpressured fire mod, with a handguard and a shelf grip filling the remaining slots.
- Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
- Barrel: 23" G-Force Barrel
- Underbarrel: MFS R-Stop Handguard
- Rear grip: R-1 Shelf Grip
- Fire mod: 7.62 NATO Overpressured
This one also pairs with the VMP, so if you have already built it for the Strider, you can swap snipers without changing your secondary.
3) Hawker HX
Third on the list, the Hawker HX runs the .338 LM Overpressured fire mod with the 23.7" Composite-11 Barrel. The Knitline Focus Grip and Auroral Light Grip complete a build aimed at holding steady sight lines.
- Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
- Barrel: 23.7" Composite-11 Barrel
- Underbarrel: Knitline Focus Grip
- Rear grip: Auroral Light Grip
- Fire mod: .338 LM Overpressured
Its suggested partner is the MPC-25, whose drum magazine helps when you are forced into a building fight with more than one player.
Other snipers on the tracker
Below the top three, the tracker also ranks the HDR in fourth, the KATT-AMR in fifth, the Victus XMR in sixth and the FJX Imperium in seventh for sniping. LoadoutLab does not carry builds for these yet, so if you want a full class ready to copy, stick with the three rifles above.
How to get more from your sniper
- Pick your spot before you shoot. High ground near the next circle lets you cover your team's rotation and avoid being caught in the open.
- Stay suppressed. Every build above runs a suppressor, which helps keep your position hidden after each shot.
- Move after a knock. Once you have taken a shot, the enemy team knows roughly where you are, so relocate before they push.
- Always carry a close range gun. A sniper on its own leaves you exposed when a team reaches your building.

Smoother long range fights
A sniper shot has to land first time, and a stable connection makes that easier. Some players use a gaming VPN to choose a less congested server route and to try for less sweaty SBMM lobbies. NordVPN and Surfshark both offer PC apps and router setups for PlayStation and Xbox. How much it helps depends on your line and where you play, so use the money back guarantee to judge it for yourself, and try the free fixes in our lag and packet loss guide first.
Our take
If you build one sniper class this week, make it the Strider 300 with the VMP as your secondary. It is the clear leader on the tracker and shares its partner with the VS Recon, so you can try both rifles with one close range build. Expect the order to change once Modern Warfare 4 lands.
