The four meta SMGs at the end of October 2026, the builds behind them, and the rifle each one pairs best with before Modern Warfare 4 changes the picture.

What is the best SMG in Warzone right now?

Close range is where most Warzone fights are won or lost, whether you are clearing a building, holding a stairwell or catching a team on the rotate. In Season 06: The Haunting, the public meta tracker that LoadoutLab follows lists four SMGs in its meta tier for close range. The short answer is that the VMP is the best SMG on LoadoutLab right now, with the MPC-25, REV-46 and Ryden 45K close behind.

One important date: Modern Warfare 4 is reported to join Warzone with its Season 1 update on 6 November 2026. From then, guns from earlier games are expected to lose Gunsmith and move to a fixed five attachment version, so the builds below apply to the rest of Season 06 only.

The best Warzone SMGs on LoadoutLab

  1. VMP - number one for close range and new in the Season 06 battle pass.
  2. MPC-25 - second, running a drum magazine for building fights.
  3. REV-46 - third, and one of the few top builds that keeps an optic.
  4. Ryden 45K - fourth and the last of the meta tier SMGs.

1) VMP

The VMP arrived with the Season 06 battle pass and went straight to the top of the close range list. The build skips an optic and puts all five slots into handling and control, with a brake on the muzzle, a longer barrel and a capacity magazine so you are not reloading halfway through a squad fight.

It pairs with the Voyak KT-3, the number one long range rifle, which makes this the most complete meta class on the site at the moment.

2) MPC-25

The MPC-25 is the pick if you spend a lot of time inside buildings. Its drum magazine gives you the extra rounds to deal with more than one player without stopping, which suits trios and quads where a second enemy is never far behind the first.

Pair it with the MK35 ISR, second on the long range list.

3) REV-46

Most of the top SMG builds run on iron sights, but the REV-46 keeps the Lethal Tools ELO optic. That makes it a good fit if you find iron sights cluttered or want a cleaner picture when fights stretch a little further than point blank.

It pairs with the DS20 Mirage, the third ranked long range rifle.

4) Ryden 45K

The Ryden 45K rounds out the meta tier. Like the REV-46 it keeps an optic, and the Forward Breach Mag makes it a quick handling choice for aggressive pushes.

Pair it with the MK35 ISR for a steady long range partner.
