How to Pair Long-Range Beamers with the Jackal PDW — Meta Guide

Published: 30 Mar 2026 · Updated: 30 Mar 2026

Why this pairing works

The current meta (late Mar 2026) heavily favours long-range beamers like the Voyak KT-3, Merrick MX-4 and GPR 91 for open-map control. At the same time, the Jackal PDW remains the dominant close-range SMG after multiple balance passes. Pairing a beam primary with the Jackal PDW covers every engagement: hold lanes with your primary, then switch to Jackal for building clears and aggressive pushes.

When to pick it

  1. Big-map BR / endgames — When circle control and long sightlines matter.
  2. Squad games — Your role is hold & compress: beam from angles, then push with SMG when needed.
  3. Resurgence (if using a flexible primary) — The Jackal doubles as a reliable secondary for quick rotations.

Playstyle tips

  1. Position first — Get to high ground/headglitches early. Your beamer punishes rotated teams.
  2. Hold lanes, then swap — Use the primary to soften/plate opponents. When they close distance, swap to Jackal for fast TTK in buildings.
  3. Smart switching — Don't swap if the enemy is at 25–30m; your primary still wins. Swap when they commit indoors.
  4. Utility — Bring stims or flashbangs for window entries. Stims + Jackal wins slim-angle trades.
  5. Loadout pairing — Long-range optics on primary (3x) and aggressive handling on Jackal (Compensator, Vertical Foregrip, Extended Mag).

Sample loadouts

Primary — Merrick MX-4 (long-range beam)

Secondary — Jackal PDW (aggro)

Common mistakes

  1. Over-scope — Using too much magnification when you need quick mid-range peeks; stick to 3x for balance.
  2. Swapping too early — Don't swap to Jackal for a 30m target — stay on primary.
  3. Poor utility — No stims or flashes makes building pushes harder; bring at least one utility option.
